One Wt. Fun
Tried to catch the Trico's again and my target was the bend pool below Hartle's Bridge on Spring Creek, ( Bridge below Fishermans Paradise). The big guys on the outside bend are very touchy to say the least. Got into position and cast to the first one, he took and with the 1wt and a #24 Trico spinner it was a great fight, well I felt kind of cocky after that-NOT!! Did not take another fish till I got 5 abslute refusals! I had 6.5x tippet on and I think I could have used 7x. It took a lot of casts to get the spinner lined up for them to take but they did take it and some of the boys were very nice, all in all there were at least 30 fish up in the entire length and it was nice to be in the cool shade. The action lasted for the better part of and hour and a half, a morning to just smile about and wonder why the fish at the bottom of the bend were so picky. The bottom has a good amount of weed growth and I know there are some funky currents along with the fact the fish were not holding close to the top. The other fish were up and holding close to the surface thereby not needing a long float into them.
All the action was a bit late because of the cooler temps. No rising fish in Bald Eagle? There wer 8 cars in the parking lot at the old McCoys dam site at 8 AM- what the hell?
Paradise was also crowded but that is because there are guys just BS'ing there every morning.
Go Fish
