A Nice Morning Fish

Decided to try for a good Trico spinner fall on Thursday morning, well there were no big clouds of them any where, Bald Eagle "0" Spring Creek "0" none of the normal spots had any clouds over them. To be fair it was colder than it has been and very cloudy putting them later in the day. I did find a good pod of rising fish just off Rock Road and began to cast to them but became stuck in the mud on the bottom, the same under water grass was there as it was in another spot last week, (note to self stay out of that shit). Tied on a #24 Dark Olive Trico spinner and began to take fish, none big but on the 1 wt. they feel good. The cloudy conditions plus the glare light made it very hard to see the fly and most time just had to set on a guess. It took about 1 hour to wade up to the top of the pool and look upstream to find nothing happening at all. This area is also a good place to plop beetles or float ants, so I fished another hour using a #16 black foam ant and they ate it like candy. Not a bad morning except for the glare on the water fishing upstream, I normaly like to fish quarter downstream and that makes it a lot easier to see your presentation. A sign of becoming and old fart- I forgot to put a hat on again- that did not help the glare! Agan only "2" flies used the entire time but I'm still tying like a mad man. Enjoy
