And Monday happened
Monday came and I was at the large tail out that holds a few really good fish that are really hard to get to, bank weeds and deep water prevents one from getting a good shot at them. i was there early and boy what a shock to feel the temp.and the "wind" coming downstream. I walked the bank looking and waiting till the boys were up BUT nothing but a rise then a long nap occured. I found a spot where I could get down the bank and cast but it was slippery and needed extreme caution to move, the boys were up again and I got drifs over them but no takers. The wind became stronger and colder coupled with me having the wrong rod/line make up. I could not get and long cast like I did with the same line and a Winston BII 2X, every cast fell short of the mark and it would have been a chore to go back to the car and change.
I moved to the riffle and began to nymph with a stonefly and a female grannom fished deep with good success. Lesson for the day make sure your rod/line match is a good one!
