RIP Charlie Meck

Sorry to hear the passing of Charlie Meck on Sept. 18, he was a good friend and author, writing many articles and books sharing his vast angling knowledge. I did disagree with him many times when he shared too many locations that did not need to be well known but we agreed to disagree. He and I had the same idea some 40+ years ago that we needed to tie spent winged spinners blue, so I tied both king fisher blue and dark blue spinners and tried them to no end, I gave a few dozen to Charlie to try- we both had the same result- "0", oh well nothing tried nothing gained. Sad to see all these good guys going on to fish forever! Did see Joe Humphries the other day and he said that he was doing great, had a back operation 2 weeks ago and of course he was teaching at Paradise, he just never sits down!
OK Penn's is 1000 cfs and Spring is 200 cfs at Axeman- what the heck, now they are calling for 2.5" plus rain over the next two days, here we go again. Just think small head waters and you can find some enjoyment but tone down your equipment to really enjoy the fight of smaller fish. Brook trout will take a #14 hair winged fly just about any time of the year, just go.
A short note about the new Trout Hunter tippet material "Evo" I hear it gets cloudy after using it for a time, hold off till they solve this problem, at $10.00 a spool it is not cheap.
