It's raspberry picking time and that means "Trico's"

Yes the Trico's are on and not really heavy yet but they are building up steam. Spring and Bald Eagle are up and running. Best days to be on the water is those cloudy shitty days beacuse they tend to last much longer, sunny low humidity days are quick and over fast. Don't forget those #16-18 light tan caddis emergers or bubble back adults when the Trico's are over. It's that first cast that counts the most, if your the old fashion type that casts upstream you better be perfect and not line the target. Over and across is the best aproach, no line overhead to put them down, even a downstream cast will work as long as you don't put if directly over the fish becasue when you pull back for the back cast that fish is on to you. It's not the pattern that much as long as your close in size and color, IT'S the drift- get it right or go home. After the morning is over it's beetle time, a size #12 black foam pattern will work, just make sure you cover the shore well- even in 6" of water plop that thing and watch them come for it.
